The Hamat group ready for the future – Visscher and Harms families transfer shares

GENEMUIDEN – Herbert and Janette Altena-Visscher will continue the Hamat Group as sole shareholders. Herbert Altena is and remains general director of the family business based in Genemuiden. This is the outcome of a future vision developed by the shareholders of the Hamat Group over the past period.

The Hamat Group comprises the companies Hamat, Avimat Coating, BVBVD, Grasspartners, tété Total Flooring and the Indian Coco Fibre Industries. Until now, three families were shareholders of the Hamat Group. Together with Bureau IJsselvliet, they developed a vision for the transfer to the third generation. Based on that vision, the Visscher and Harms families decided to transfer their shares in Hamat Holding BV to the Altena family. This step was formalised on 31 May.

Tété

On the same date, the Harms family acquired the shares of Tapijt Groothandel Twente BV in Hengelo. This company supplies extensive collections of branded flooring and floor coverings under the name tété Total Flooring. The existing collaboration between Hamat and tété will be continued by both parties.

About Hamat

Hamat Group, as a specialist in floor and entrance zones, is active worldwide in more than sixty countries. Through vertical integration of the complete production process, the company delivers exclusive products of high quality. From Genemuiden and India, Hamat produces and supplies entrance mats, artificial grass, carpet, sports fields and PVC flooring. Thanks to a fully automated high-bay warehouse (16,700 pallets), Hamat guarantees fast delivery at competitive prices.

Sustainability

Hamat invests considerable time and money in the development of sustainable products, production methods and procedures. In this way, the company aims to reduce waste and lower energy consumption. Hamat recently developed, for example, a 100 percent natural coir mat.

Continuation of policy

The changes in the shareholding of Hamat Holding have no consequences for the 180 employees of the company. Nothing changes for customers and business relations either. General director Herbert Altena continues the policy he has pursued since 2016. Hamat Group remains well-positioned to respond to trends and new market developments.
